Cláudio Ramos is “super prepared” to succeed Diogo Costa

If Diogo Costa leaves FC Porto, the natural solution is within the squad, is the conviction of Paulo Cadete, who worked with Cláudio Ramos at Tondela, when he started to stand out.

"I think that Cláudio is super prepared to replace him, due to his maturity, his leadership, and even because he is one of the captains. I think that FC Porto is well served in terms of goalkeepers", he stated in an interview with Bola Branca .

Cláudio Ramos is entering his sixth season with the Dragons on his chest. Despite being covered by Diogo Costa, the 33-year-old goalkeeper has given good responses whenever called upon to play, according to Paulo Cadete, who has observed signs of improvement in what was his greatest weakness.

“He worked a lot on his feet, which was a problem that Cláudio had. Today, I look at him and, when Porto plays from the back, I see that he has done very competent work. I think he has made great progress, he is becoming a very complete goalkeeper, for much more demanding levels”, he points out.

Diogo Costa is still not 100 percent fit and Cláudio Ramos is looking to start his second game in the Club World Cup, this Thursday, against Inter Miami. The goalkeeper born in Viseu has another opportunity to shine against Lionel Messi, after having performed at a high level in the draw (0-0) between Porto and Palmeiras.

Paulo Cadete put his career as a goalkeeping coach on hold a few years ago and is currently Floriano Flora's assistant.
